MERITS REVIEW
Most decisions to refuse or cancel a visa have a right to have the decision reviewed on its merits in the AAT (Administrative Appeals Tribunal). The process of lodging the application is straightforward but must be done within the strict timeframes provided. A review application can be decided in your favour without a hearing. If the AAT does conduct a hearing, I can assist you in the preparation for the hearing.
JUDICIAL REVIEW
If your merits review case has been unsuccessful in the AAT, you may have grounds for an application for judicial review in the Federal Circuit Court. Commencing these proceedings is not a decision which should be taken without proper advice. I can help you analyse the AAT decision and ascertain if there has been a jurisdictional error.
SUBMISSIONS & ADVICE
I can assist you with advice about what migration options are open to you (including advice on review and appellate matters). I can also assist you if an issue has arisen in the course of your visa application (e.g. character issues or allegations about misleading information) and the department have issued a natural justice letter. In those cases, I can help you with professionally drafted submissions to address the issues raised.
VISA APPLICATIONS
Whether you are a business wanting to employ and overseas worker, or you are an individual wanting to apply, I can help you with visa application. I am also prepared to offer my services on an “unbundled” basis where I can direct or advise you on how to manage your own application.

PAUL CUTLER
In Australia, only Registered Migration Agents can provide immigration advice and assist people with their visa applications. Even lawyers currently need to be separately registered and not all agents are lawyers.
I have practised as a lawyer since 1996, have been registered as a migration agent since 2001 (MARN 0101077). I am currently practising as a barrister. I am a member of the NSW Bar Association and the Migration Institute of Australia. I am an experienced advocate and can appear for you in the courts and tribunals. I can also help with professionally drafted submissions, statements and advices on the evidence required. I can, of course, also advise and assist you with your visa application.
I am bound by the Code of Conduct.
